This is the soundtrack from the film Gonzo. It features music from the movie, as well as some music from the Hunter S. Thompson era. Another unique feature of this soundtrack is that it includes parts of the film. Some of these are Johnny Depp's narration; others are audio clips of Thompson or friend Ralph Steadman. There may be other voices in there too, but those are the ones I registered as I listened.
The actual music on here covers a pretty broad spectrum. From "Goin' Down Slow" by Howlin' Wolf with Willie Dixon, to "Mr. Tambourine Man," the classic Bob Dylan song. Also, Lyle Lovett, The Youngbloods, Jefferson Airplane (Live version of “It's No Secret”), and many more. It's definitely an eclectic mix, though mostly what would now be called "oldies." Personally, it's not my forte, but I did enjoy some of the songs, and some of the sequences from the film. It's a unique soundtrack all around, and it also comes with a print biography highlighting much of the material in the film, which is a good read. Any fan of cool compilations, oldies, or Hunter S. Thompson will definitely dig this. So pick it up if you see it and check out the film too to see what all the fuss is about with this radical derelict of journalism/ drug advocate/ shotgun enthusiast/ many other cool things.
