If you own a radio then you have heard MercyMe. You know, they are the band that has the #1 worldwide smash hit “I Can Only Imagine”. With over 6 million CDs and DVDs sold worldwide MercyMe has quickly become one of the best known and highest selling Contemporary Christian rock bands of all time. The Generous Mr. Lovewell is the seventh full length CD release on INO Records and is a CD fully MercyMe and also finds the band venturing in some new areas.
According to the band The Generous Mr. Lovewell is a reminder that humanity simply needs to love others well. Bart Millard states, “The album revolves around a fictional character we created to remind us that we simply need to love others well. The CD opens with a catchy little diddy entitled “This Life” and it is a reminder that this life is a gift from God and we are to live it for Him. The first single “All Of Creation” which has taken the charts by storm, is a worship song about how all creation singing praises to God. “Only You Remain” is a song in response to the earthquake in Haiti with all the destruction and tragedy God was the only one who remained.
The Generous Mr. Lovewell is a good CD. It begins with some fun and catchy tunes but concludes (at least the last five songs) on the mellow side thus I think some very thought provoking songs get lost in the mix. Overall this is a solid MercyMe CD and will definitely appeal to fans of the band.
