Airbourne

No Guts, No Glory

Roadrunner Records

This is my first experience with Australia’s Airbourne.  The first thing I noticed was the apparent similarities in sound to their Australian predecessors and classic hard rockers AC/DC.  There is no question about it Airbourne is straightforward classic party rock.   No Guts, No Glory is Airbourne’s second full length CD and was recorded in the traditional classic manner… On analog tape and live!  Formed in 2003 by Joel and Ryan O’Keefe this Australian quartet have been rocking the airwaves and turning heads in the process.

What I appreciate most about No Guts, No Glory is that it is a no frills rock and roll CD.  It is raw, it is simple and it’s a lot of fun.  Some of the highlight songs include “Bottom of the Well”, “Steel Town” (which is a tribute of sorts to the people they met on the road touring), and the adrenaline laced “Back on the Bottle” which has a sound reminiscent of AC/DC’s “Let Their Be Rock”.

Airbourne are certainly not breaking any new ground in the music world, but they are making great rock ‘n roll in a time where rock music is not the prominent music on the radio waves.  No Guts, No Glory is plain and simply a CD for the common man.  There is no glitz, no glam and is in your face rock and roll.  I would recommend this CD to anyone who is into AC/DC or are just looking for a new CD (or MP3) to pop in at your next kegger to keep the party alive.
