Bedtime Stories is the latest Disney family friendly release. This BluRay package contains 3 discs. The first disc is a BluRay and it contains the film and all extras. The third disc is a DVD containing only the film with the second disc being a digital copy. The film stars Adam Sandler, Kerri Russell, and Courtney Cox. Honestly, I was a bit leery seeing Adam Sandler and Disney teaming up for a PG rated film but the end result is wonderful.

Bedtime Stories is the story of Skeeter, the son of a would-have-been hotel tycoon that loved the family getaway atmosphere of the hotel business. When Skeeter was a boy his father had to give up his dream, hoping Skeeter could would day fulfill it for him as his daughter would likely not be interested. When Skeeter’s sister has to go out of town for a few days for a job interview, she leaves her son and daughter with her hotel handyman brother, who doesn’t know the first thing about children. What begins as a simple offering of a goofy bedtime tale takes a wild twist when the stories begin to come true. From raining gumballs to mermaid princesses to ancient Rome, no tale is to big and no maiden to fare. Of course, mild chaos ensues each time and moral lessons abound as Skeeter learns the value of imagination, hope, diligence, love, and most of all, family.

The extras (contained on the BluRay disc only) here are not quite as spectacular as I had hoped. The usual bloopers and deleted scenes are included as are a few featurettes that explore the film’s special effects, some quality time with Bugsy (the film’s lovable bug eyed guinea pig), and more. Unless you want the film on BluRay specifically, there isn’t a lot of reason to pick up this edition BUT the film does look great on BluRay and the Bugsy featurette is pretty funny the first time you watch it. Since this set contains the digital copy, BluRay, and DVD though, it’s probably the most bang for your buck.

Bedtime Stories is wonderfully captivating no matter what age you are. And, yes, this is TRULY a family friendly film, which is not a thing many films can claim these days. This is certainly one of Adam Sandler’s bets films and Courtney Cox and Kerri Russell make for excellent co-stars.
