Bounty

Barnholtz Entertainment/North America Motion Pictures

Bounty is an independent film set in the Wild West. It stars Jarrett LeMaster, Michelle Acuna, and Austin O’Brien. The basic premise here is that Nate (LeMaster) has a lot of debt and it catches up to him in the form of a Hangman’s Noose. He is offered an indentured servitude of sorts as a bounty hunter. If he does what is asked of him, he can get enough money to pay his debt and save his own life, if not, then it’s back to the noose. When he arrives in town he finds “The Sparkle Eyed Kid” (Acuna) fits his bounty needs and will bring more than enough cash to pay his coming due debts. The catch is that, he’s not the only one who wants to bring the outlaw in.

Overall, I felt that Bounty lacked that “something special” that many of this company’s films have. The actors do a fine job but the sets just aren’t up to par and look a little cheap to be honest. The story moves along at a snail’s pace and is fairly predictable as well. The real sticking point is though that the film starts right as Nate is about to be hung and is fairly confusing at first because you are thrown into it at an awkward place. The film is almost half over before you start feeling comfortable with where you are plot wise. This might be a decent rental if you love Westerns but it’s definitely a one time watch and you certainly have to have at least a small appreciation for the independent film genre.
