From the producers of Ong-Bak and The Protector comes Demon Warriors. This Thai film tells the story of a detective that commits suicide in order to gain demonic powers that will allow him to infiltrate and destroy a gang of demon warriors. His quest is to find others who have become as he has and lead them to those pulling his strings. The catch is that with each victory he loses one of his mortal senses. It’s kind of a Sci-Fi film with a heavy hand towards dramatic action.
While the special effects are certainly impressive, Demon Warriors plot is entirely confusing. I would attribute some of this simply to translation but, in this case, it goes a bit deeper, there just isn’t much to connect each part of the story, as if it were thrown together quickly. Or perhaps poorly edited. If it’s big action you’re looking for though, then Demon Warriors will quench your need for the graphic and gruesome better than most of its U.S. counterparts (think edgier superhero films like X-Men and Watchmen). If you are a fan of blow ‘em up films than you may want to check this one out, but if you are looking for well-weaved stories then you should pass this one up.
