I’ve never really been a fan of Desperate Housewives. It is one of those shows I probably never would have watched had not my wife had an interest in it. The show is definitely targeted for the female audience, although it has crossed the line and does appeal to a large number of the male population as well (they just won’t admit it). This scandalous TV series first premiered in the fall of 2004 and quickly took the world by storm. The ladies of Wisteria Lane have captured the heart of viewers around the world and this show gives no signs of ever slowing down.
Desperate Housewives season five picks up five years after season four left off. One would think that things would have changes in five years but our beloved Wisteria ladies find themselves in more predicaments than ever before. Season five sees the introduction to Edie’s new husband Dave who brings with him a whole slew of new mysteries to unravel. We also see Susan dealing with being a single mother all the while seeing her former husband start up a new relationship with another lady of Wisteria. Lynette and Tom have a very hard time dealing with their now teenage sons (one of whom is having an affair with a married woman). Carlos and Gabrielle learn about life with their young daughters and Carlos begins to regain his sight once again. Bree and Orson… Well not much has changed with this couple. They are still just as unloveable as ever before. This seven disc DVD set contains all 24 episodes from the fourth season and a bonus disc. The bonus disc features a behind the scenes look at how an episode is made, a look back at the 100 episodes this show has celebrated, a commentary, bloopers and deleted scenes.
All in all this season has more twists and turns than a man can handle. I would suggest this DVD set to anyone who has the rest of the series on DVD. I definitely would not recommend it be the first season to watch had you never seen an episode before. I would also hesitate to recommend this to individuals who tend to steer clear of sexual content and promiscuity as this show can push the bar on this.
