Being a book reviewer and also having young children I have read literally hundreds of children’s books. One of the joys of reading children’s books is that it only takes two minutes and you get to spend some quality time with your children. Noel Piper is the wife of world renowned pastor, speaker and author John Piper. Unlike her husband she chooses not to delve into the theological arena with her latest book and has written a lovely children’s book that deals with having friends and all the joys and responsibilities that come with healthy friendships.
The premise of the book is based around the question, “Do you want a friend who?” Each page talks about the importance of having friends, who love, comfort, empower, be with, teach us about God, pray with you etc. She also uses Scripture references to show the biblical importance of having and being a friend like this. She eventually gets to the point of Jesus being our greatest friend of all.
This cute little book would be great for children ages three to seven years old. The artwork is colorful and well done to match with the storyline. Overall this book would be a great addition to any children’s book library.
