Another brilliant film from years gone by is resurrected and brought to the new age and a new generation. The film was nominated for 6 Academy Awards and was a big hit with audiences. Michael Douglas and Glen Close are two of Hollywood’s finest actors and bring to light what could go wrong with an affair that’s taken too far.

Lawyer Dan Gallagher (Douglas) is your typical family man with a wife and daughter. At a company function, Dan has a short encounter with a mysterious woman, Alex Forrest (Close) that seems innocent enough. When his wife leaves town for a trip to the country looking for a home for them, Dan finds a dinner out with Alex quickly turns into an erotic affair. But when things get too much for Dan to deal with and he decides to end this relationship, Alex doesn’t accept this well and decides that she will do anything to keep him in her life. Alex eases into her craziness and keeps turning up the heat as every attempt to gain the love and attention of Dan fails and gets more intense. Calls to Dan’s home and office drive him to the point of rage and frustration as he tries to break off from Alex and her boatload of madness.

Well this disc certainly has the extras for those who crave more. If you are more into the artistic aspect and behind the scenes type you will like these. I found most of this section to be boring drivel with no real captivating qualities. The only part of the extras I found worth watching was the alternate ending, which by the way was the original ending.

Bringing this amazing film back to life is a tribute to the writing and power this film emulates. Blu-ray is the best way to go with a film like this. Suspense is built well with the audio contributions and the visual aspects were clear as can be expected for an older film.

What better way to deter the average man from an affair then to show the worst thing that could happen. I swear this could have been made for the Lifetime Network. This is great film and deserves all the accolades it was so nominated for. I forgot how some of it played out but was still intrigued and following closely as not to miss a moment.
