Gods Behaving Badly is a book about the ancient Greek gods who are living in today’s world. They all live in a big run down house in London and they think they are dying because their powers are diminishing. Then Artemis, the daughter of Zeus makes a deal with her brother Apollo to have him stop casting spells on mortals. Well this doesn’t last long and before you know it the sun goes out and the entire world is in jeopardy. Artemis then has a plan to go to the underworld to see if this was the work of Hades and Persephone. She can’t go it alone. She needs a mortal. She needs one that is a hero. Neil, will he do? He seems to be farthest thing from a hero… or is he?
This was a challenging book for me to read as I do not enjoy Greek mythology. It was also filled with foul language and a lot of sex which isn’t my cup of tea either. However, in defense of the author, she did a great job showing how the gods were and keeping them in line with how history portrays them. According to Greek mythology, they were in fact a crazy and crude lot.
Overall it was an o.k. read, but if you are into Greek mythology you may find this a little more enjoyable than I did.
