I’ve admitted it before and I’ll say it again… I love watching Hannah Montana. I think her Disney Channel TV show is one of the funniest tween show on the network. Needless to say I was a little skeptical when I heard Disney was going to release a full length movie in theaters because I TV to big screen doesn’t always transfer over very well. Surprisingly Hannah Montana The Movie is a great movie and one that is worthy of adding to your personal DVD collection. The original TV cast is present, the story is has a great moral to it and the translation from small screen to big screen is wonderful.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years you know that Miley Stewart (Cyrus) leads a double life as the mega popular Hannah Montana. Only a handful of her friends know this “top secret”. All the years of living this double life have begun to take a toll on Miley’s life. An undercover journalist accidentally finds out that Hannah has a secret and he is determined to find out what it is. She gets into fight with Tyra banks over a pair of shoes which leads her into a slew of other mishaps which ends with an exploding cake. Her father becomes angry with her as he is finding that her “superstar” status is starting to go to her head and beginning to overtake the good in her life. Her father then sends her to her hometown in Tennessee to help her realize her roots and to understand just how well she has life. Miley and Lily ultimately have a hard time adjusting to the slower paced life and the farm. However Miley grows tired of living a double life and decides that she will reveal her true identity to her hometown and the crowd pledges to keep this revelation a secret.
Overall Hannah Montana The Movie is a great movie that deals with staying true to who you are and ultimately understanding the blessings in life. The Blu Ray and DVD are chock full of extras which include seven music videos, bloopers, deleted scenes, behind the scenes and much more. If you are a parent of a tweenage girl who is obsessed with Hannah then purchasing this DVD is a no brainer. But if you are a parent, like me, who has a secret fascination with this TV series then this would be a good addition to your collection as well.
