I Love You, Man

Paramount

Since I am a huge fan of Rush someone told me I should check out the movie I Love You, Man; so I requested this movie from the editor for review.  Well, after watching it I think it’s pretty cool Rush and Lou Ferrigno both made cameos but that was about all I really enjoyed about the movie.  This movie had so much potential but for me fell flat as it was plagued with profanities and crude sexual humor that I felt the theme was lost.  I wouldn’t write this off as a complete flop though as there are plenty of laugh out loud moments and ridiculous scenarios that had me chuckling but not quite enough to make this a movie that I would recommend.

Peter Klaven is every woman’s dream.  He is sensitive, he is loving, he likes to talk and do things for his lovely fiancé that make most men look like dogs.  The problem?  Peter has no man friends.  He has literally lived his life without having a best friend that is a guy and this has people talking.  After overhearing his fiancé and her friends talk about how weird it is for Peter to not have any male friends he sets out to find a guy friend to be a best man for his wedding.  After several attempts such as playing poker with a bunch of real men, going to a soccer game with a full grown man who talks like he is going through puberty, an 80 year old man and a guy who mistakenly things Peter is gay  he finally finds the guy who would be perfect.  Sydney Fyfe is the dude’s dude.  He is single, he is a ladies man, he cuts to the chase in conversations, he has a man cave and most of all he loves Rush.  After many man-dates Peter and Sydney become bosom buddies which eventually has his fiancé concerned that Peter is being negatively affected by Sydney.  Troubles arise as Peter confronts Sydney and this will certainly be an issue for the impending wedding where Sydney is slated to be the best man.

Overall, I can’t recommend this movie with a clear conscience since I feel the language and sexual innuendo’s are too much for me.  However if you are a fan of movies like Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall then this movie is right up your alley.  The DVD includes many deleted scenes, extended scenes and many more extra’s.  I Love You Man had potential in my opinion and I think it failed to meet my expectations.
