Do you want to know music’s dirty little secret? Here it is. Only one thing matters when discussing longevity in the music world and that is a band’s live show. Reel Big Fish is a certain testament to that. With only one “hit” to their credit, and it being over a decade old, the band have continuously “brought it” live and the fans keep coming back. Live! In Concert! was filmed in front of capacity Californian crowd in January of this year on the band’s Fame, Fortune, and Fornication tour supporting the album of the same name.
If you know anything at all about this band, you expect a riot when watching this show. Lots of comedy, great music, interesting takes on life, and a diverse crowd that came ready to rock are exactly what you’ll find throughout this performance. Aaron Barrett is one of the best frontmen in the business and a twenty song DVD is the perfect way to showcase it. The band rips right onto their hit “Sell Out,” immediately engaging the crowd (and probably avoiding people chanting for it throughout the show). The set includes original material as well as covers, two of which do not appear on the Fame, Fortune, and Fornication album, thus making this DVD experience and essential purchase for longtime fans.
Basically, if you like Reel Big Fish you’ll love this. If you “liked” Reel Big Fish, you’ll remember why. If you have never heard of them then its time to expand your mind and be introduced to one of the best bands that never really was and yet always has been.
