Observational comedian Ron White releases yet another gut buster performance in a long line of impressive works. Notable to his career, releases You Can’t Fix Stupid and Drunk in Public have charted #1 and 2 respectively, along with 3 go-rounds with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour and Blue Collar TV.
This particular performance was filmed in Seattle, WA and right from the get go, Ron launches into his trade mark sarcasm filled act. His abilities as a great storyteller shine as he describes personal experiences with local law enforcement in Florida during what became a very well publicized drug infraction, and of course, his drinking and marijuana use always come into play. And his troubles don’t end there as he tells of a paper company out of Houston, TX that tries to sue him for pointing out an obvious byproduct of the paper process on stage. Also an important note to his credit, Ron goes on tour with the USO to entertain troops overseas and visits Walter Reed Hospital to visit wounded service members. A true patriot, he delves into ways to resolve our national deficit along with ways to help with border control in his very sarcastic style.
This extended version, is chocked full of call backs, natural flowing off the cuff humor. The beauty of the filming and editing come as they pan from all of his vices with the scotch, cigars, and even leave in bloopers of witch Ron is quick on his feet to address them while being funny and brings it right back where he originally wanted to go in the first place. And sure, even the fact that a couple of jokes bomb, they left them in, Ron pushes forward and brings the crowd around with him.
I was excited to get into this DVD performance, and felt very satisfied with the 4 additional bits that were in the extras. Of course, for time constraints, they cut them from the final version, but I’m glad they added them as a bonus. I was laughing most of the way through, and for the Ron White fans, pick it up, for those of you whom have never heard of him, you will want to get on board.
