Samantha Who?
The Complete Second and Final Season
ABC

Last year American audiences were introduced to Samantha. Samantha was a newly appointed vice president of a Chicago Realty firm. Sam was not too well loved by her friends, peers and associates the problem is that she doesn’t this because she has amnesia. After being struck by a car she fell into a coma and awoke eight days later with no memory of who she is. After she awakens from her coma Samantha finds that she has a dysfunctional family, a hedonistic best friend and a boyfriend whom she has no recollection.

Samantha Who? The Complete Second and Final season contains all 17 episodes from the second season, plus blooper reels, deleted scenes and a tour of the set with Christina Applegate all on three DVDs.  In Season 2 Samantha decides she wants to turn over a new leaf in her life.  Not only is she more determined than ever to regain her memory but she also resolves to get her life back in order once again and doesn’t really like the person she once was.  Many of the episodes deal with relational issues such as coming clean with her new boyfriend about living with her ex-boyfriend just to find out her new boyfriend is living with his ex as well.  As usual each episode finds Samantha in a new predicament which seems impossible to get out.  Many are funny but some are just plain predictable.

Samantha Who? initially garnered a lot of praise and was one of the highest rated first season sitcoms on television. Unfortunately the show lost its oomph and saw its demise only after the second season.  Nonetheless Applegate does a great job playing the role of Samantha and has a fantastic supporting cast consisting of Jean Smart, Jennifer Esposito, Kevin Dunn and Barry Watson. Overall, Samantha Who? is a wonderful comedy that unfortunately was cut short.
