Uncle Ted has been performing in from of audiences for over 50 years. He began at the age of 10 and hasn’t looked away from his calling as an amazing guitarist. Over the years, he has been a part of various band ventures, acted on TV and is an avid activist in support of firearms, and the good ole USA. Now hitting a mind blowing milestone, Ted Nugent has brought his career home to the city where it all began, Detroit, MI to film his amazing 6000th show. The filming took place on the 4th of July 2008 at the DTE Energy Music Center amongst a group of dedicated fans of all ages.

Well you certainly can’t deny the talents and success of this Rock icon and his contributions to the genera. From the onset of the introduction through to the encore and finally, Ted brings an energy and presence like no other. His outspoken views on American rights and Liberties are evident through the visual appearance of his stage. Full of guns, the flag and a caricature of the Motor City Madman, this is a stage worthy of the deepest redneck’s dreams. As Ted graces the stage, he immediately takes the audience into a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner as only The Nuge could deliver. Along with members of Selfridge Air National Guard, crew members wheel out an astonishing red white and blue cake from which a bikini clad blonde emerges. From that point forth, Uncle Ted delivers a nonstop thrill ride of music along with a few special guest that influenced his career such as his guitar teacher Joe Podorsek, drummer Johnny “Bee” Badanjek and Derek St. Holmes.  Some of the best known guitar licks are played with great effort as huge hits are blasted from the speakers, Wango Tango, Cat Scratch Fever and Stranglehold are just to name a few. And just as you could expect from Uncle Ted, he is always the showman and gets the crowd involved in the festivities.
Having this performance on Blu-ray is a great version to have due to the quality of the audio set forth and the picture gives the feeling of being all over the stage and front row due to the multiple angles and camera stations. If all of that doesn’t grab you, stick around for the credits as you can watch an amazingly crystal clear fireworks display.

I really liked the performance and clarity of the audio and visual aspects of this momentous occasion and wish I could have been there for the real thing, but thanks to the wonders of Blu-ray, I felt like I was there I essence. That being said, I was dumbfounded with one aspect of what I witnessed, the crowd reminded me of a bunch of dead fish, just motionless for the most part, but just horrible. I realize that the majority of the followers of Ted Nugent are a bit older, however I saw people in their 20’ and 30’s just totally bored or disinterested in what was going on in front of them. I was bothered by the lack of enthusiasm shown, but as the sun went down and the audience slowly disappeared in the darkness I felt the show went a little smoother. Overall I was intrigued to watch as the madness ensued on stage and to hear all of the songs that remind me of yesteryear.
