Who would have thought that nearly 25 years after the death of Thin Lizzy founder, bassist, and vocalist Phil Lynott that these original bad boys would be back in town with a new live CD. Well, maybe not necessarily a NEW CD. Still Dangerous is a new CD released by VH 1 Classic Records and is considered to be a “companion” of sorts to 1978’s Live and Dangerous as this CD contains two songs not on “Live and Dangerous”: “Soldier of Fortune” and “Opium Trail”.
Still Dangerous was recorded live in 1977 in Philadelphia and the tapes that make up this disc were discovered by guitarist Scott Gorman and were re-mastered and remixed b producer Glyn Johns. This is Thin Lizzy at its best and contains some of their most memorable hits including “Jailbreak”, “The Boys Are Back In Town”, “Cowboy Song” and “Dancing in the Moonlight” plus six more classic Lizzy tracks.
Still Dangerous: Live at the Tower Theater Philadelphia 1977 captures Thin Lizzy at the height of their illustrious career. This is a must for any collector or fan of the band. Keep in mind that this CD has all the tracks that are on their Live and Dangerous (L & D) album with the exception of the two songs previously mentioned. If this is enough to pique your interest then by all means you should go out and get this CD. As for me I personally prefer L & D and the extra two songs don’t interest me enough to make this a better CD than their original live album.
