Watchman

Ian Rankin

Little Brown and Co.

In his second novel, Watchman, Ian Rankin has created an excellent page turner. Miles Flint works for the British Intelligence.  His marriage is failing and work is consumes him.  Flint has been watching group for some time but when he is pulled off the job he becomes suspicious.  He runs his own investigation which ends up making him a target by the ones closest to him.   All in all this guy is on the brink of losing it all, including his life but manages to pull it all together.  The story is so captivating that you want to keep reading until you find out who the mole is and then you have to keep reading to see how it all turns out.

I have to say that the ending wasn’t as tidy as I would have liked but I could definitely see a continuation to this exciting story.  I do admit I would like to see the watchman on another adventure.
