As a dad and a pastor I am constantly asked a lot of “why” questions about God and the Bible. Many times the questions are so difficult to answer that I have no other response than, “I don’t know”. I love the inquisitive spirit of children as they rarely if ever take something at face value, especially when it pertains to God and the Bible. Since this is the case I am forever indebted to Crossway books for the release of their newest children’s book WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THAT? This book has been an invaluable addition to my library. Why? Because it is over 300 pages of Biblical answers to some of the most commonly asked questions by children about God, faith and the Christian life. This book is targeted for children ages 8 to 12 but I found many of these topics work well for children as young as five years old. Some of the topics include what does the bible say about angels, boys, girls, cheating, crying, enemies, faith, God’s glory, God’s love, hairstyles, joy, mathematics (yes math!), personal hygiene, puberty, respect, smoking and much, much more. There are 340 topics that all have biblical responses, scripture verses for the topic, cute drawings and calls to action.
I cannot recommend this book enough! This is a great book for Pastors, parents, children and Children’s Ministry directors. Personally I use this book in developing my children’s messages during church services and it has made my life so much easier. All I do now is take the topic I will be preaching on and find the devotional on it and use this as my reference guide to teach the children.
