Director Steven Brill captures the comedic cast of well known faces. Seth Green (Austin Powers), Matthew Lillard (Scream), and Dax Shepard (Employee of the Month) star in this 2004 original release brought back for the wonders of Blu-ray. Although taking place in Oregon, the movie was filmed entirely in New Zealand at the same time as Lord of the Rings.

Growing up, four friends, Billy, Tom, Jerry and Dan share all of life and its adventure. One of their all time dreams was to find the treasure of D.B. Copper, whom hijacked a plane with $200,000 in 1971. When they all graduate from high school, they go their separate ways and move on into society and reality. When news comes of Billy’s passing nearly 10 years later, they attend the funeral and reminisce of old times in the tree fort they built as kids. During this trip down memory lane, they discover that Billy had been doing some research on the treasure of D.B Cooper and in fact had a detailed map of the location. They make a pact to go out in search of the booty in honor of their fallen friend. What should be a simple trip becomes disaster and folly as every turn brings the laughs at their expense. Things really go wrong when they stumble upon two hillbillies whom are tending to a pot farm. During their mishap adventure they meet a friend of D.B., Del Knox, played by Burt Reynolds. These kids really have no clue on how to survive nature, but do by only luck.

The extras section is rather slim in quantity. The Director Commentary is rather boring and monotone, but where it falls short, the bonus comes when you watch the cast commentary as it is presented in video form. It is totally worth watching the movie again with this feature enabled because the cast are hilarious in their own right and cut up and joke at every turn and half the time aren’t even talking about what’s on the screen.

The audio levels were amazingly dead on, and Blu-ray does not disappoint. The visual aspects are captured nicely by the sweeping views of the New Zealand country side and crisp water shots. Over all, the experience is a truly amazing display on your high def systems.

I love this type of comedy, riddled full of physical comedy as well as subtleties that are funny to pick up such as when they get the cell phone back from the bear, there are pictures taken by the bear. Totally a fun movie to watch and the cast really mesh up well. The 3 main characters are a credit to the comedy genre and definitely worth picking up.
